How to Measure Your Body
1. Bust▼
Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level and snug but not tight. Wear a well-fitting bra.
2. Waist▼
Measure around your natural waistline — the narrowest part of your torso, above your belly button. Breathe normally.
3. Hip▼
Measure around the fullest part of your hips, keeping the tape level and snug.
4. Shoulder Width▼
Measure from the edge of one shoulder bone across your back to the edge of the other shoulder bone.
5. Upper Arm▼
Measure around the fullest part of your upper arm, with your arm relaxed at your side.

How We Measure Our Lolita Dresses
1. Shoulder Width▼
Measure across the back from shoulder seam to shoulder seam, with the garment laid flat.
2. Bust Flat▼
Lay the garment flat. Measure across the bust area from side seam to side seam, then double that number — this gives you the total bust circumference.
3. Waist Flat▼
Lay the garment flat. Measure across the waist area from side seam to side seam, then double that number — this gives you the total waist circumference.
4. Dress Length (from shoulder strap)▼
Measure from the highest point of the shoulder (or strap attachment point) down to the bottom hem, along the center front of the garment laid flat.
5. Hem Circumference▼
Lay the garment flat. Measure across the bottom hem from side seam to side seam, then double that number — this gives you the total hem circumference.

How does Pettilia sizing work?▼
Pettilia uses a 1X/2X/3X system built for plus-size Lolita — based on real body data from over 1000 plus-size Lolita enthusiasts, not scaled-up straight sizes.
What is 'shirring' and how does it help with fit?▼
Shirring (elastic gathering) is sewn into the back of our JSK and OP dresses. It provides generous stretch to accommodate different bust sizes, creating a flexible fit system. We offer both half shirring (moderate stretch) and full shirring (maximum stretch) depending on the design.
I'm between sizes — which should I choose?▼
For JSK with elastic waists, choose based on bust. For non-elastic waist JSK and blouses, prioritize your largest measurement. When in doubt, size up — Lolita is meant to be dreamy, not tight.
Why doesn't Pettilia use standard S/M/L sizing?▼
Standard S/M/L is designed for straight-size bodies. Our 1X/2X/3X system is engineered from the ground up for curves — adjusted shoulders, deeper armholes, and strategic shirring.
How do I know if a JSK will fit my bust?▼
Check the "Bust Stretch Range" and "Recommended Body Bust" on the size chart of each product page. Shirring + back lacing provides generous stretch. If your bust falls within the "Recommended Body Bust", you are good. We also note whether the dress has half or full shirring.
